Bernina 590 Review

Update : January 25, 2019

After all the problems I had with my two 590s, Bernina finally acknowledged that a number of 590s had problems during shipping; a part known as “slider blocks” that control the stitch length can get out of alignment during shipping which makes it impossible to balance all the stitches. You can do a quick test to see if your machine is affected by sewing out stitch #438. Bernina has since changed the packaging and is using a “box within a box” to prevent the machine from getting damaged in shipping.

Please read my post to determine if your machine is affected.

I decided to get rid of the 590 and upgraded it to a 790+  instead – good riddance. A review of this superior machine will be posted soon – stay tuned.

A sewing machine ? Not many people know it, but yes, I LOVE to sew. And a Bernina no less. Designed in Switzerland – which is really code for SWISS NOT MADE. Maybe if it was I wouldn’t be having so many problems. You can search the web for Bernina 590 Review until you’re blue in the face, you’ll only find copy/pasted promotional material telling you how wonderful and flawless this machine is. It’s NOT.

Bernina 590 random error

Bernina is the ultimate FANBOY company, I’ve never seen such a devout group as Bernina owners, it’s almost like a CULT. I get it – very high end product, nice branding, excellent quality and finish. Believe you me when I tell you I want to LOVE my Bernina. The finish is fantastic and it has an endless selection of high end accessories that just make you want to BURN more money on Bernina products.

DON’T DO THAT.

I made that mistake, hopefully you won’t. Bernina is NOT Continue reading “Bernina 590 Review”

We’re CHANGING !

This site used to be a one track mind website about cycling and skiing but I have recently decided to focus on product reviews.

The web, and particularly Google and Bing have become so focused on selling us products that it is has become impossible to find any HONEST and unbiased reviews. When is the last time you searched for something and actually found anything USEFUL on Google ? NEVER. Relevant results are produced by outlets which promote products they have been PAID to review. When you do come across user reviews in forums,  they come from :

A) fanboys who will accept practically any flaw imaginable and die defending “their” brand, or

B) consumers with fragile egos that will say anything to justify an expensive purchase.

I don’t care. All the products reviewed on this site have been paid out of my own pocket and If I get screwed by a company that convinced me to purchase their crap I’m going to do my damnest to warn you about it !

Rating system :

FU Umbrella – Full on RAGE. Complete crap and waste of money, spend your money elsewhere !!

Meh emoji – it’s ok. It works well enough and it’s cheap enough that I can live with it.

Happy Snoopy – It’s completely AMAZEBALLS.

Why TRUST Monosujet reviews ? I don’t like buying crap. I hate companies that produce it, and I RAGE when companies don’t stand by their products. Most of the products reviewed on this website are HIGH END; I like buying things once, it’s cheaper in the long run and more environmentally conscious. To me, a product should just work, like an iPhone. Maybe a bad example to some geeks, but it just works, like my car, or my fridge. You get the point.

MONOSUJET – French for one track mind. Now 1-track mind product reviews.

Help me help others. I’m not interested in everything and don’t own everything, so If you would like to contribute a really SHITTY or AMAZING product review, please send me an email and tell me about your experience; I will consider your submission and publish it on my website.
